The Use of Remote Sensing to Determine Nitrogen Status in Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) for Seed Production

چکیده

Sufficient nitrogen (N) supply is decisive to achieve high grass seed yields while overfertilization will lead negative environmental impact. From the literature, estimation of N rates taking into account crop’s status and its yield potential, seems promising for attaining averting adverse impacts. This study aimed at an evaluation remote sensing predict final yield, traits crop usability nutrition index (NNI) measure additional requirement. It included four years’ data eight application strategies. Several reflectance measurements were made used calculation 18 vegetation indices. The predictions using partial least square regression support vector machine. Three different responses fertilization noted; one with linear response, optimum economic (EON) ~188 kg ha−1, EON ~138 ha−1. We conclude that although it possible make in-season NNI, does not always portray differences in potential; thus, challenging utilize optimize application.

ACREMONIUM-ENDOPHYTES OF PERENNIAL RYEGRASS (Lolium perenne) IN FRANCE

13-17 ABSTRACT Infection with endophytic fungi (Acremonium spp.) was detected in seeds of wild populations of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) collected in France by private breeding companies and INRA. In total, 262 populations were examined and 70% contained Acremonium. It is worth noticing that most populations are endophyte infected but generally endophyte infection rates per population ...

Haploid and Doubled Haploid Techniques in Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) to Advance Research and Breeding

The importance of haploid and doubled haploid (DH) techniques for basic and applied research, as well as to improve the speed of genetic gain when applied in breeding programs, cannot be overstated. They have become routine tools in several major crop species, such as maize (Zea mays L.), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). DH techniques in perennial ryegrass (Lolium ...

Complete Chloroplast Genome Sequence of a Major Allogamous Forage Species, Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.)

Lolium perenne L. (perennial ryegrass) is globally one of the most important forage and grassland crops. We sequenced the chloroplast (cp) genome of Lolium perenne cultivar Cashel. The L. perenne cp genome is 135 282 bp with a typical quadripartite structure. It contains genes for 76 unique proteins, 30 tRNAs and four rRNAs. As in other grasses, the genes accD, ycf1 and ycf2 are absent. The gen...

Control of blind seed disease (Gloeotinia temulenta) in perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) seed crops and implications for endophyte transmission

In three field trials fungicides used for stem rust (Puccinia graminis) control were evaluated to assess the effect on levels of blind seed disease, seed germination and endophyte (Neotyphodium lolii) transmission. Blind seed disease infection was reduced from 24% to 5% in one of the three trials undertaken and germination was increased by between 17 and 23% in two trials. There was a negative ...
